Under the supervision of the Lead Dispatcher, this full-time position will assist with Tidewater Express Inc. (TEI) dispatching duties. The dispatchers are responsible for answering the TEI phone 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position will work first shift, Monday through Friday, with some weekend and weekday night dispatching duties.

Dispatcher Responsibilities:

1. Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and document important information
2. Use phone and computer to direct wrecker drivers and road service technicians to the appropriate location/task
3. Prioritize and organize calls according to urgency, customer requests, and predetermined schedule
4. Maintain frequent communication with drivers and techs on the status of calls
5. Responds to and takes immediate action to resolve customers and driver/tech problems
6. Reply to customer emails regarding truck and heavy equipment tows
7. Understand tow truck loading and tow/recovery rigging basics, or the ability to quickly learn
8. Making, answering, and directing phone calls and the distribution of messages
9. Data entry into the Tidewater Express Inc accounting system and filing records as needed
10. Ensuring the correct paperwork is complete and prepared according to corporate procedures
11. Any other duties as assigned by Lead Dispatcher

Requirements:

1. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
2. Ability to work under pressure
3. Strong knowledge of emergency response procedures
4. Should have a “team first” attitude and maintain our team atmosphere even in hectic times
5. Maintain a safe work environment
6. Must have interpersonal and communication skills
7. Proficient in MS Office and data entry
8. Weekday night and weekend availability to cover dispatching duties
9. Must pass a drug screening
